Are Pit Bulls Aggressive?

I hate seeing people put stereotypes on Pit Bulls. I hate how people abuse them, and treat them cruelly. Underneath all those stereotypes, what kind of dog is actually there? It’s time to learn the facts. Before we begin, please pin this to your dogs board.

Are Pit Bulls Aggressive?

Pit Bulls are not inherently aggressive. According to pit bull advocates and experts, ‘people are often drawn to their muscular, bulky appearance and MAKE them aggressive and encourage it for protection and fighting.’ Even the ASPCA gave them a description that could suit a dog people imagine to be more gentle, say, a golden retriever! The ASPCA says: A well-socialized and well-trained pit bull is one of the most delightful, intelligent, and gentle dogs imaginable.”

Pamela Reid says “Pit Bulls aren’t aggressive with people but are ‘less tolerant’ of other dogs than many other breeds.” She also said that “They have great tenacity. They put their mind to something and they do it. That’s what makes them great dogs for sports like weight pulling. They are very strong, athletic animals.”

About Pit Bulls:

Pit Bulls are great family pets. They are extremely loyal and LOVE people. People used pit bulls as nannies because they are great with kids. But, then again, don’t trust any ol’ pit bull on the street to be kind. Always approach ANY dog with caution, but don’t be fearful, or you will dissipate fearful energy, resulting in an anxious dog that may attack. They love to cuddle, kiss, wiggle, and in my personal experiences, hug humans.

Pit Bulls do not need much grooming, bathing-although I do not recommend it-can be as infrequent as once every 6 months, and they do not need a lot of brushing. Most enjoy it, and they DO shed, about average, so you can brush a pit bull at least once a week, for good habits.

As for exercise, a pit bull will survive on a walk, daily. A yard with an at-least-six-foot-tall-fence is optional, but recommended, as pit bulls can jump high and enjoy playing in the yard.

In the Health Category, pit bulls are very healthy, and aren’t prone to many diseases. Most female pit bulls weigh from 30 to 60 pounds, while males usually weigh 35 to 65 pounds.

All in all, a pit bull may be a great pet to add to your family, but DO be aware of your dog’s power. YOU are responsible for how your dog behaves. I really recommend visiting cesarsway.com.
